This week in Learning:

FLA: Continue poetry unit. This week we will try our hand at Logo-rallyes, and Calligrammes. WEDNESDAY is the FLA PAT written component. Students can review by looking at Cathy Beveridge's notes on how to write a story.

ELA: we are in the midst of writing newspapers. the groups and the assignments have been doled out. The editors have been chosen. Students will work on this unit for about a week. FRIDAY is the ELA PAT! Rest, sleep and eat well.

MATH: today, we reviewed perimeter and began area for polygones. Students were asked to measure the area of their bathroom. We will terminate with volume and then a test will be next week for this unit.

SOCIAL: We have just finished the unit on Provincial government. Students were asked to send me their MLA and the constituency that they live in. Of the 45 students, only 24 students responded. TEST this Thursday on chapter 6 Provincial Government.

RELIGION: we continue Family life. So far the questions have thought provoking. Students are respectful and polite and curious. I did ask them to think of a trusted adult that could be a back-up for them, in case they couldn't ask parents questions. I believe it is better to be well-informed than to get their information from the Simpsons or Google!

ART: Mother's day gift, Picasso self-portraits.

HEALTH: food labels. Students are going home today with a sheet to track their daily eating. I will pick them up next Monday.

I phone the courthouse tomorrow to see if the jury selection is still on. Either way, I will let you know what happens.
