What happens in Vegas gets shared. We invited our learning buddies over as well. Thank you to everyone who brought food to share.

Congratulations on surviving the PAT's...Not so bad was it? I am super proud of the students and the fact that they stayed focused throughout.
Well done.
All unit tests should be brought back to school for recycling. Merci

Tomorrow is Vegas. Hotdogs provided for lunch.
Friday is Aboriginal day. If students want to bring in "stuff" for STEM building with our reading buddies, they are welcome to it.

Students have been given a new assignment: Teach the Teacher. they have 5-10 minutes to teach me something that they know well.

Social Studies PAT tomorrow and then we are done with exams but not with some work. Continue to come to school with a positive attitude and a desire to do your best.

Math test was a good indicator of what we learned this year.
Tomorrow is ELA reading comprehension and Wednesday, our last PAT is Social Studies.
Thursday we have our Vegas party. For those of you who are not aware, it was difficult getting the kids motivated to do SPARK and other brain breaks during the day. So as an incentive, i asked them to choose a destination and we would do one minute of exercise for every kilometer. They chose Vegas. So this Thursday, we will have games, I have old pennies for gambling (no one to really make money), a movie, I have a claw machine and will provide hotdogs and drinks for lunch. The students seem quite excited about it and they deserve it. A promise is a promise. there is also a sign-up sheet in the classroom for students to bring other snacks, including healthy ones.

Friday is Aboriginal day and we will be working with our learning buddies throughout the day to honor the First nations peoples.

Math PAT on Monday. 40 questions of problems and calculations. Students can use a calculator and they NEED their protractor, so if they have lost it Walmart has them for 2-5$.

Due Monday: Sketchbooks on color, Abtract artist project.

Happy Father's day to all the dads!

SCIENCE PAT tomorrow. Tends to be one of the difficult ones. See Alberta Education website for old PAT's exams to review. We did the one from 2010 today.
FLA reading comprehension results were positive. Everyone passed! 😊

Math test went well today. Students are coming home with a sheet with preliminary results. I am asking that parents sign the sheet and it is returned for future exams. Thanks.

A good night sleep is the first part of succeeding in the PAT's, as is a good breakfast. Come to school well rested, and well fed. Tomorrow is MATH part A, basic facts, no calculator.

It's the final countdown!

This week we will be finishing all of our projects and presenting them to the class. This includes Science forest management, Abstract artists, Hockey Lecture and Religion scrapbooks.

Wednesday is MATH PART A PAT:
this is a 20 minute math basic facts tests. Students have up to 40 minutes to finish.

Thursday: FLA reading comprehension. I have given students examples to use to help with their reading comprehension, not much else to do to prepare. The test gives 2 hours, but students have double the amount of time to complete 50 questions, usually 10 texts.

Friday: SCIENCE 50 questions, 2 hours to complete but can have double the amount of time.

You can tell when the grade 6ers are ready for Jr High! Patience with others is a little lacking. Let's get through these next few weeks with a smile still on our faces!

Also this week:
Thank you to the grade 6 Freezie committee. They will be selling 1/2 jumbo for 1$ on Tuesday and Wednesday to raise money for the Farewell. This may be repeated next week as well.Image result for freezies

Lip Sync is tomorrow and we agreed for students to wear either a black or white shirt (hopefully no logos) to make us look uniform. for students not here in the pm, hopefully you get this message.

Also Social and Science tests were given back today and gone through for correct answers. Discuss with your child their marks. Studying habits generally diminish at this time of year, but I would appreciate your help in keeping them on track. PAT's begin next week. Students should be studying/reviewing every night for at least 30 minutes. Holidays begin June 27th. Thanks.
