This week in learning:

Math finishing the unit, test on Thursday June 1st. Ask questions before then 

FLA: finishing the novel study assignments, will be due early next week

ELA: Shadows novel study due tomorrow

ES: will be finishing the last 2 chapters  and a test coming up soon.

SCI: project on an Alberta tree.We are finished the unit and a test will be forthcoming next week.

Religion: continuing with family life

This week in Learning:

MATH: probability; theoretical and experimental and the unit test is next week, Tuesday the 30th

SCI: we will finish the unit soon on forests and trees and students will be given a project to complete. Test coming soon as well

ES: we will look at what it takes to change the constitution; students should be well versed in their charter of rights and liberties

FLA: finishing the novel studies, each novel has 2 projects to work on. These will be due by end of next week. Class time given

ELA: Comprehension test today; projects on Shadows, due May 30th

Question pour demain:

Name one thing you can do to make puberty easier on everyone around you.

Today the students voted for Alberta Elections. The results cannot be shared until after the election on May 29th

Tomorrow we have the fire presentation in the morning. 

Thursday is NOT pizza day, but it is SPIRIT day...as many colors as you can wear. Pizza day has been moved to Friday, a note was sent home to see what you would like to do with your pizza, as we will be at the FCJ center until 2h30.

Friday: FCJ center: bring a snack and a water bottle. 

 

Happy long weekend!

 Students have been given seeds and soil to begin their gardens. If students send me a picture of them planting, they will receive 10 tokens. show Grow Alberta in your photo.

                    Friday FCJ center;  permission forms  need to be signed and returned asap  


Students doing the novel study La Montagne noire, we have finished the novel and now students are working on 2 assignments to go with. Les crayons, we are not quite done reading yet, but students may also be working on 2 assignments. Rubrics have been given out. 

The ballots from Vote Etudiant did not arrive before today, so hopefully we will be able to vote Tuesday.

This week in learning:

FLA: continue with the novel study; students should have summaries of each chapter

ELA: continue with post reading activities of Shadows. Also PAT prep...look over  your notes on how to write a short story and a news article

MATH: how to draw diagrams for surveys/questionnaires etc.

SCIENCE: looking at tree rings, how to tell what a tree has survived. SEVERAL students did not do the experiment on transpiration; they were given 1.5 weeks to do it. overdue now

ES: we are beginning our last 2 chapters, looking at Canada's history and how our values have changed.

Religion: praying the rosary, including the mysteries.

Question pour demain: In the joyful mysteries, the presentation of Jesus at the temple can be compared with what? 

THIS WEEK:

ELA PAT Wednesday...find a thesaurus, we don't have enough

Thurs: 2nd vaccine for Hep B and HPV (as far as I know from the school calendar) wear a short sleeved shirt

FRIDAY: student VOTE and I would like to take the students individual pictures for the yearbook...no fancy dress, just themselves

This week in learning:

ES: test tomorrow on provincial Govn't. Students are also looking at the candidates in Calgary Varsity to see who they will vote for in Student vote May 19th.

Math: measurement tests went home last week and several have not been signed and returned. This week, how to make proper diagrams to show information gathered from surveys or experiments.

SC: Students are being asked to do an experiment at home with the transpiration of trees. This has been sent to their Gmail and it will be due next Monday, due to the weather this week. We are looking at leaves and their forms, composition and disposition.

FLA: practice short stories are going home today and students are asked to pay attention to the notes that I made on how to improve. Also this week, look at how to write an opinion letter again for review.

ELA: We continue in Shadows and will review news articles before the PAT's next week.

This week in Learning:

MATH: test this Wednesday on geometry and measure. Beginning the unit on statistics, gathering info and probability

FLA: short stories due today. Next we are doing a novel study. There are not enough copies for a class set, so students have been grouped into 2 groups, each with their own novel. Heavy emphasis on vocabulary and comprehension.

ELA: Continuing Shadows of Disaster. Students should do their best to stay on track with reading and comprehension questions. We will be writing a news article on this event so attention to detail is very important.

SCI: we continue trees and forests of Alberta.

ES: we have finished our unit on provincial gov't and the test will be next week, most likely Tuesday the 9th. We will be researching the candidates for the riding of Calgary-Varsity in order to know who to vote for in Student Vote.

Religion:  Lenten Journey posters due tomorrow

ART: finish "love your neighbour" house

This week;

Hats ON for Mental Health...wear a hat on Wednesday May 3rd to show your support for Mental health
