End of week update:

Students are working on a extended project in Social about the Iroquois. Everytime we learn something new, it will be added to their project. So far we have learned: Pacificateur; clans; nations; maisons longues; rôles; Wampums

When students are absent the 1st place they should go is the Google Classroom. It will have the outline of the day included where and when to meet for instruction. When they return, they should hand in any assignments they have done or ask for anything else they missed.

In Science we are learning the properties of air. We may go to the staffroom for some experiments, as we will need water. A letter will be sent outlining further details.

Interviews are tonight(all booked up sorry) and tomorrow (spaces still available). Monday is a PD day. Enjoy your long weekend

With the growing number of absences in our classroom, and not necessarily due to COVID, I would like students to bring as much as they can home every night in case they do stay home sick. This includes their protractor in Math, their sketchbook and their Religion notebook. Any other work will be posted in Google classroom.

I will begin to use Google Meets when I am teaching so they do not miss out on classroom instruction.  Please note that these are optional, and meant to support what is already on the Google Classroom. The meets being offered will be short, 15-20 minute lessons, as I am teaching them in-person in my class.  Afterwards, the students are welcome to continue with items that have been posted on the Google Classroom. Please follow our schedule to see when to meet for Math, Social, ELA, or Science at this time. This will begin Monday January 24th.

Bienvenue au début de notre nouvelle année.

It was great to see the majority of the students (21/28) week to chat and to see how I might help them cope should we go to online learning...worst case scenario. I am remaining positive and look forward to teaching in person and re-connecting with the class.

This week in learning:

Be prepared for unit tests in Math, Social and Science in the very near future.

Math: test on decimals this Friday, we will review all concepts this week.

If we remain in person, please ensure your child has a protractor for the next unit on angles.
(If we go to online, it is too difficult to teach angles without helping students directly, so in  that event, we will learn fractions instead).

Science: reviewing the concepts in astronomy and I will be presenting a final project on planets. Hopefully it is sunny sometime this week so we can try out our sundials. Some students will need to rewrite the quiz on the phases of the moon as they did not succeed before Christmas. The UNIT test will be next week TBA. A study guide has been posted on GC.

Social: reviewing the concepts of Ancient Greece and students will be completing their pamphlet on these concepts. Again the test will be next week TBA. What to study posted on GC. Some students have been having difficulties accessing the textbook online. I have now sent it via Gmail. Please let me know if you are still having difficulties.

FLA: students will be completing their opinion letters and then we will move onto a fun reading comprehension competition called Hockey Lecture.

ELA: students will put the finishing touches on their Greek god posters. All of the research should have been completed by now.

Religion: we move into the feast of Epiphany.

ART: spirit animals using line or shapes

Music: rythm is our next unit

We welcome Mme Donnelly as our new AP and Phys Ed teacher. There is no new information at this time regarding the speed skating field trip. Keep your eyes open for upcoming news.

May God keep us all safe in school. Blessings in the New Year.
