St. Luke Parish Confirmation Parent Meeting 6pm April 9th

Tuesday, March 26, 2024

This week in learning:

MATH: for the final part of this unit, there will not be a exam but rather a project designing a skateboard for a company. Students need to design a logo and then make it transform according to the rubric. We will work on this now and then after Easter.

SCI: we will continue on the unit of aerodynamics and there will be a test after Easter, but not right away. Hot air balloon homework due tomorrow.

ES: we will begin provinvial gov't before the break, time permitting.

FLA; we are finishing Francophonie across the world this week.

ELA: continuing poetry. So far students should have an Autobiographical, an Acrostic and a Cinquain.

Religion: finishing our Lenten journey maps

Music: we just finished rhythm so after Easter, we will begin something new.

Tomorrow we will be making pretzels  with our copains and learning how they are a religious tradition.

This week in Learning:

Math: we continue with transformations and symmetry. We have learned all of the transformations and now we will put them together to show symmetry. The final project will be a design one showing what they have learned.

FLA: we are looking at francophone communities in Alberta. Each student chose a community and they will research the components necessary from the rubric.

ELA: good copies of essays are due tomorrow. Next up, Poetry.

SCI: 7 out of 23 students did not build a parachute that was supposed to be done last week, including those that were given a second chance. I am quite disappointed in this number. Seeing as it was windy today and will snow the rest of the week, parachutes are on hold. Students should see me for a 3rd chance before Wednesday.

Wednesday we will be presenting the vehicle propulsed by a balloon. I hope that the number of projects completed is higher than the parachutes.

ES: we will finish the unit on municipal gov't and see the types of schools offered to us. TEST is next week.

Religion: today we looked at Virtues and students are working on their Lenten maps.

Book Fair visit tomorrow

Thursday: pizza and theme: fancy dress up P-T interviews evening

Friday: P-T interviews all day

March 21: Music Lyrics for Art

March 21: Present Ward profiles

March 26: Test ES Municipal gov't

MATH tests going home today for signature

This week in Learning:

MATH: we begin Transformations and symmetry, which align with coordinates on a graph. New this year, we use the +/- numbers on a graph as well.

SCI: several students did not bring materials to build a parachute yesterday. They have one more chance for Wednesday. They will take their free time in the a.m. to begin it and a little time during Science class to finish it, like everyone else. I provide the weight. Next up, the parts of an airplane, vocabulary in French

ES: we are finishing up looking at the counselors and will finish the unit looking at School Boards. Unit test to come before the break.

FLA: we are doing some group reading comprehension. Next week we will look at the month of la Francophonie

ELA: we will finish our opinion essays this week. On PG day, teachers asked what the functional writing will be for the PAT's and no one had an answer for us. Stay tuned.

FOR CTF DAY 2: Blogging permissions required

Religion: we continue our Lenten journey

ART: have lyrics to a favorite song by the next class. Clean and appropriate.

I am extremely proud of the St Luke's Got Talent committee for their hard work and dedication to this event. They worked tirelessly to put it together and take ownership of it. I didn't quite get a picture of all of them but will do so soon.
Merci Katelyn, Ben, Sarah and Emily.

For Monday students need to bring materials only to make a parachute; something for the chute and something for the cords. They will make it in class and then we will test them when the weather warms up.

Monday, March 4, 2024

This week in Learning:

MATH: test this Thursday; students should be studying and asking questions if they are confused about perimeter, area volume, and angles. A lot of students are having difficulties multiplying decimals and should be practicing.

SCI: poster on how their creature flies due March 7th. Today we looked more closely at (lift) La Portance.

ES: The government services sheet and your family is now overdue. Students are researching a Ward  and will try to convince me to live in their Ward through a presentation of information found.

We will look at how we can contribute to the municipal gov't and how school boards work.

FLA: verbs=imparfait; working on an opinion letter, format and proper grammar.

ELA: how to write an essay/expository writing. Students need a topic by Wedn.

Religion: the Beatitudes and 10 commandments quiz beginning next week. Consecrated posters due today.

Health: ce que je mange due Thursday

Those students who are on Peer Support need to have their permission forms signed for Mme Aimee or else they will not be able to participate. They were sent directly to parents emails.

I am still missing permission forms for our trip to Madeleine d'Houet.
