This week in Learning:
FLA: congratulations to "Les Guimauves préférées" who were the champs of Hockey Lecture season 1! It came down to a shoot out with Sophie beating Daniel to the answer. Well done les élèves. Today they will be given a post reading comprehension to see if the hockey lecture strategies helped their comprehension. Next up, Story writing...get your thinking caps on.
ELA: presentations of poems and songs to begin with and then we look at Story writing in English as well. Lots of writing coming up.
MATH: we will finish with angles this week and the test will be next Tuesday on this unit. Studying should begin now.
SCI: we continue with experiments with air and water (as air acts as a fluid so therefore it acts like water). Science Fair is coming up soon, hopefully everyone is on tract with that as well.
SOC: we continue with the Iroquois learning how they governed. We have booked Tpet on Feb 11th and may need a volunteer or two. Information will be forthcoming.
ART: sketchbooks are due this Thursday and Spirit animals will be due next day 3 (Feb 5th)
RELIGION: we are exploring the clergy this week and how they discern their vocation.
CTF: last Friday students met in the Dragons' Den to pitch their product ideas and to ask for money from Parent Council to go forward in their business. Some companies were awesome and knew their numbers well. Others have until end of this week to propose in writing how much money they need in order to go forward (include where they found the materials, how much for one unit, how much money to borrow in total). As a side note, unfortunately, not all students were respectful to Mme Browne's guest teacher. We have had many conversations regarding behavior with guest teachers and the message is not sinking in. Perhaps a chat from parents would help.
This week:
Lacrosse. The Roughnecks are here to teach lacrosse on Wednesday at 1h15.
No school Friday... PD day for teachers
