Happy New Year to one and all. I hope that your holidays were filled with rest and relaxation. The students looked a little tired today...like they needed a nap...hopefully by the end of the week we are all back to our routines...me included.

This week in Learning:
FLA: Hockey lecture. A reading comprehension competition to improve reading skills in French. We are also exploring homophones.

ELA: we began our poetry unit today. Here is my autobiographical written by the students (so I guess it wouldn't be autobiographical then, just biographical...they were kinder than other years!)

At the end of the unit, students have the option of re-writing lyrics to a song and performing it or writing a poetry book. Homework tomorrow...students' autobiographical

MATH: we will begin angles and by Wednesday all students need a protractor. They cannot do this unit without one. They range in price at Walmart from 2-5$ and it was on the list of school supplies at the beginning of the year. Decimal tests went home to be signed and returned.

Etudes Sociales: Mme Reimer is back and will be teaching this unit on the Iroquois confederacy. There are still some Greek tests that need to be returned signed. Merci

SCIENCE: test on astronomy is this Friday. The next unit up is Air and Aerodynamics. We begin with air but there is not a good break between the two units, so we learn them together. It is a difficult unit so nightly review is very important.

RELIGION: We learn how to respond to God's call to Service.

ART: Sketchbooks will be due at the end of this month. Students are working on texture.

GYM: begins tomorrow...have your Gym strip!

Coming up: MADD Science Jan 22
                    Skiing COP Jan 21
