This is week 3 of school and there are still students without gym strip or calculators. Please ensure that your child has these items. Organization is key in grade 6! Also, if students do not have "homework" per se, they should be reviewing material taught during each day to keep info fresh.
Pizza forms go home today. Deadlines are very important for these documents. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

I will be giving all students a copy of the schedule to put into their agendas. It is never set in stone, as flexibility is important, however it gives them an idea as to what to expect.
We have Gym on days 1 , 3 and 4
Library is on day 5 but begins next week.
This week in Learning:
Math: We will finish up with multiples and move onto prime and composite numbers and finish with factors. I corrected the MIPI and will be discussing results with you at interviews. This is a diagnostic math test to see where weaknesses are and what to focus on this year.
Etudes Sociales: Students have learned which values are important to Canada and to democracy. We have learned why rules are important. This week we will look at why we have a government. Students will also be researching their riding and the candidates running. Current events dates have also been given out, so students should know when they are expected to watch the news. SCIENCES: Today we looked at animals tracks and learned the difference between observations and inferences. This week we will also learn about fingerprint types and distinguishing features.
FLA: students begin writing their comic books.
ELA: Students are writing their "Secret knowledge of grown-ups" story. These will later include images for a full story.
ART: we began Onomatopoeia words. Another class will be given.
Religion: I will be assigning reading passages today for the opening mass. Students are expected to practice and be proficient. How do we know God through scripture.
SANTE: Quiz tomorrow on fire drills and lockdown procedures.
