Did anyone miss the BLOG last week?
I was super busy with PAT corrections that I had no time for anything else. Just to let you know, from my point of view, everyone had Acceptable, Above or Excellent levels on their written portions. I was super pleased with that. The tests now go up to Edmonton for corrections.
This week in Learning:
FLA: Congratulations to Allie, who was chosent to represent our class at the Gala Oratoire at Bishop McNally. We had a 5 way tie and students had to re-present their poem to the class.
We are beginning Hockey Lecture Season 2 to help with our french comprehension. We had 4 captains pick their teams and will begin tomorrow.
ELA: Finishing Shadows of Disaster. We will have a test on the content and a final activity to wrap it up. Several students were not up to date in their daily reading and question answering and this will affect their final marks. In the future we will also be working on comprehension strategies.
MATH: finishing probability and analyzing diagrams. Test next week. Some students are not completing daily homework and it will affect their final mark.
Social studies: We are in the middle of Federal government and how our constitution affects everyone. Students should become familiar with the Charter of rights and freedoms as well. Test on Provincial gov't went home last week and should be signed and returned.
Sciences: finishing aerodynamics and how a plane flies. Test coming soon and our last unit will be on trees.
Religion: we are almost finished the unit on human sexuality. Questions have been respectful and insightful.
Music: we are preparing a lip sync presentation for next week. Students will also present it at Farewell. As with the Christmas concert, SOME students are having an attitude towards this presentation. It is meant to showcase a french song, their musical beat and movement and to have fun. If your child is someone with attitude, please have a chat with them.
Speaking of attitudes...I realize that the end is in sight, and that spring is finally here and they are excited, BUT, we still have a lot to cover, review to go through and assignments to complete. Today I raised my voice, as I have never done to date because the chatter is never-ending. They have conversations amongst themselves while I am speaking and the lack of respect is growing. I don't want to become mean Mme Colette for the last few weeks, but if necessary, I will have to. I would appreciate your support in having a conversation with your child.
