We are in the midst of practicing for the Ash Wednesday celebration. If you want to play the songs at home, they are "40 days" by Matt Maher and "Create a new heart" by Michael Mangan. Also, the students who have been selected to read, have been given their readings to practice. Please be diligent with this. Merci.
We are in the middle of evaluations as well and I have noticed a clear division between the students who are reading at home every night and those that are not. Reading every night is mandatory and helps with the success of your child. Students will be bringing home sound wheels this week. We may not have learned all of the sounds yet, but at this time, all students need to be decoding (ie: sounding out the letters, syllables and hence words). Regardless of whether this is done in French or English, decoding is the first step to reading.
With the carnaval happening next week, I see a HUGE improvement on students speaking French to each other. It is music to my ears!
