This week in learning:
MATH: students will be receiving their math test on decimals, % and ratios tomorrow to be signed and returned. We had to wait for students who were absent to write before sending them home. I am seeing a marked improvement in their math scores...bien fait les élèves. Keep it up. We continue with the measurement of triangles and polygones this week.
SCIENCE: we were supposed to launch parachutes tomorrow but with the new snow, that won't happen (be ready with your materials anyway in case). We will look at helicopters instead and also students should be ready to make paper airplanes on Thursday. The test on air and aerodynamics will be shortly after break...heads up.
ES: today we wrote municipal government test. Student should be completing their project on Wards by Wednesday to present this week.
FLA: last week we looked at francophones in AB. Next up will be reader's theater for a week until after Easter where we will write a story and do poetry.
ELA: We have finished poetry and are working on prefixes and suffixes before Easter break. We might also start a new novel study.
Religion: yesterday's Gospel was about Lazarus, we will discuss and make a symbol. This weel we will look at the stations of the cross and how we can use them inprayer and our daily lives.
Music: due date for instrument project will be next Monday. There will be time this week to continue on it.
ART: lyrics project due Thursday this week, we work on it today.

If parents choose to go on vacation early, the teacher is not required to send material that the student will miss. The student may check the Blog daily.

The grade 6 class council has asked to do an activity on March 16th the day before St Patrick's day. Students will be responsible for bringing recycled materials to make a leprechaun trap during FLA. They can put themselves into groups of 2-5 people and the activity will be done in class, in French and the traps will be left overnight to see if we catch any sprites. Thank you in advance for your help in collecting materials.
Science vehicles are due Monday, we are testing them in class. Small project on hot air balloons also due Monday...this one is online.

This week in Learning:
MATH: percentages and their relationship to fractions and decimals. The unit test for this will be March 21st
Science: we will look at oxidation and resistance, as well as some notes on lift again to make sure students understand the concept. There will be a project on parachutes explained. Your vehicle on balloon propulsion should be getting finished this week. I would like to test them in class next week. Posters are due tomorrow on bird/insect.
FLA: we are doing some work on verbs this week and moving onto a novel study next week. Opinion letters are due Wednesday.
ELA: we will be finishing poetry this week. Find a poem to recite by Thursday, start memorizing it this week, we will present next week. Also, there will be a poetry quiz next week or week after, depending on disruptions.
ES: we continue with the municipal gov't. Today we learned where tax dollars go. Next we look at school boards.
Religion: the transfiguration, need a symbol, and what did you learn about it. this week we look at the Commandments & The Beatitudes.
