This week in Learning:

MATH: test today on decimals. Next up is angles. All students should have a protractor by tomorrow to be successful in this unit.

FLA: we will be having a unit on reading comprehension called Hockey Lecture. Students have been placed in teams that are equal in abilities. Teams will be going head to head against another team, first reading the passage, understanding it and then asking questions to the opposing team to try and stump them. This will help in our reading comprehension for the PAT's.

ELA: We will be writing short stories to prepare for the PAT's. This will just be our first attempt at it.

SCIENCE: test this week on Thursday for Astronomy. Next up is Air and aerodynamics

ES: test is this Wednesday on Greece. Next up The Iroquois Confederacy.

Religion: We move onto how to answer God's call; unit 4. Today we had a liturgy for Epiphany and learned about St Carlos Acutis. Here is his website     https://carloacutis-en.org/

This week also:

Wednesday: we have a presentation by Sisters on vocations

Thursday pizza and spirit day: pyjamas

Friday: meeting at noon in the Learning Commons for all students in the Science Fair

Next week: Lacrosse residency

Thursday, January 12, 2023

Friday's question and you cannot wait until you come to school to write the answer. All answers must be done at home.

What numbers, letters and symbols did we write over our classroom door and on our desks?

Also the Social and the Science tests have slight changes as I had forgotten that next week we have Social on MWF and Science on T and Th. To clarify the Social test is Wednesday and the Science test is Thursday next week. Math is Monday

Bienvenue à une nouvelle année. J’espère que vos vacances étaient reposantes car nous avons beaucoup de 'catch-up" à faire pour nous remettre sur notre chemin pour finir l’année.

I usually like to finish the units we are studying before Christmas, however with my late return and what M. Degagne managed to cover, they will be completed this week and there will be tests all next week. Start studying now and manage your time wisely.

I also want students to get back on track in checking the BLOG weekly...maybe a contest is a way to get them checking?

MATH: Fiches 6 et 7 et ensuite le test lundi le 16 janvier.

SCIENCE: today we made solar clocks and took measerurements of the sun's shadows throughout the day. This graph will be due at the end of the week. We will also take a few classes to research the planets and the unit test will be next week. date TBD

ES: we will also finish this unit, have an assignment as a review for studying and this unit test will also be next week. TBD

FLA: as of now, we are finishing music presentations, but once they are done we will do a little more grammar and then some reading comprehension.

ELA: we are doing Greek god presentations this week and then will look at how to write a sort story, with the PAT's in mind.

Religion: We looked at Epiphany and there will be a quiz on it tomorrow. Information is on GC.

ART: greek urns

Music: if you have clean chopsticks at home that your child can bring to school fo our next unit, that would great.

CTF: Genius hour...explained tomorrow

Three days to the finish line:

We will be trying to complete most assignments and units as best we can before the holidays. Here is what you child should complete before Wednesday, with time given in class to do so:

ELA: greek god poster

Religion: magazine segment

MATH: up to lesson 5 dividing decimals

FLA: comic strip

SCIENCE: moon phases calendar and how the earth and moon rotate, revolve with the sun

Desks and boxes must be cleaned and organized in the morning, as well as a cleaning of the classroom. Games in French and a craft for a gift for parents in the morning.

I hope to be able to show a movie in the afternoon. Students can bring in a bag of chips for themselves (no sharing due to viruses still being rampant) and I will provide a drink for them.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May God's love shine on you and your families.
