There will be some tired kids tonight! We had dry land training in the am for an hour, and a full 1 1/2 hours on the ice. A good bath with epsom salts may be in order.

DUE tomorrow:

Social pamphlet on the Iroquois, Math Fiche 4, rough copy of French story that we have been writing for a week now.

DUE Wednesday:

Science lab booklet, Google classroom properties of air, ELA poetry quiz and booklet

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. Students will get ashes sprinkled on their head instead of a cross on their forehead.

With the beginning of Lent I have a rule of NO CANDY in my classroom. I would ask that you respect that rule when making lunches, thanks. During Lent we are asked to give alms, pray extra and fast. Fasting can be from things such as complaining and doesn't need to be food.

Update this week

When I asked the students who had completed certain poems that we have been working at for over a week, not all hands went up, which tells me that homework is not getting done in a timely manner. This book of poetry is not yet due, however, when the date comes up and they are not on top of daily assignments, it will be a mad rush. Time management is key.

Last day to purchase lollipops for our Gr 6 Farewell fundraiser is Friday.

We are in need of loose leaf paper. Since September, we have been pooling our ressources but they are now depleted. If your child did not bring all their supplies at the beginning, please consider doing so now. Also check with your child what they might be missing; expo markers, glue, scissors, rulers, markers etc... Time to reload.

In our mardi gras basket, we are up to 5 bottles of wine and a few bars of chocolate. Thank you and still in need.

Overdue homework: talk to your child:

* La grande loi de la Paix: title page Social studies

* French book report #1

* History/changes in the Canadian food guide

Monday, February 7, 2022

 This week in Learning:

Math: today was study day and time to ask final questions for the unit test on Friday.

Sciences: we had a few experiments on how air has mass and how it holds pressure.

FLA: post comprehension reading test on Volcanoes. Students were supposed to bring home their quiz on parts of a sentence for signing. Results were good, which means their writing should be good as well. That brings us into the next unit of story writing.

ELA: continue working on your poems. Tomorrow is CTF...all students must have their project approved and thier BLOG form signed before continuing.

ES: we continue to work on the Iroquois...how they made decisions and how they governed.

Religion: we look at the laity, the clergy and the consecrated. Once this unit is over, there will be an open book test.

Health: several people still not handed in "ce que je mange"...a diary of what they eat in a week. Ask your child if they are one of those people. Paragraphs on comparing the Canada Food guides are due today. We looked at our Jump Rope for Heart kick off campaign and had a quiz that might just save your life.

Music: We begin teaching the rhythms that students invented, tomorrow.

ALSO:

Also that afternoon we will be having a Tpet presentation on the Iroquois Confederacy. Thanks to the parents who volunteered.

Some students also did not hand in  their Health assignment : what they ate during a week. Those that were sick have until next Thursday to do so.

Religion Notebooks are being picked up Friday for marking. This includes 3 reflection liturgies and 10 assignments. If you are absent, it is your responsibilty to hand it in upon your return to school.
