A final Merry Christmas to you and have a restful holiday. Some students chose to bring home their ELA or Social to get a bit done over the break. Some students still need some help with dividing decimals, so maybe if you have a cold indoor day, spend some time with them and decimals. Don't forget to look at the FLIPGRID made by learning buddies and us with Christmas messages. https://flipgrid.com/62e9a1e0

Thanks to all who sent generous gifts for Christmas. We were so busy yesterday that I didn't have a chance to open them, but then it only means I get  to open more than my own kids on Christmas day! 😆
Looking forward to the break and see you in the NEW year. Blessings...Mme Colette

This week in Learning

Even though I said today was the last day for gifts, it seems my Grinch has taken some time off. Tomorrow is the absolute last day for steal a gift gifts, that we will exchange on Thursday.

Please ask your child to show our Christmas play on Google Classroom. It was made to make you laugh and have fun at Christmas. A huge thanks to Demir for putting it all together.

MATH: dividing decimals all week long!

Sciences: planets, sizes, climates, revolutions. Quiz on moon phases Wednesday and moon phase sheets due Thursday

Social: finishing our unit on Greece. Students are putting together a brochure

FLA: writing an opinion letter and reading Christmas stories to our reading buddies.

ELA: last class today for Greek god research and then students will put their info on a poster. Also finishing the CTF projects on Food trucks.

Religion: finishing the Advent magazine. Due Wednesday

Last day for Food hampers is Wednesday

Happy Friday!

Less than one week left and I plan on keeping the students busy to avoid chaos and melt downs.

We are pretty much finished our unit on Ancient Athens and there will be a test after Christmas. The same is true of our Math unit on decimals and our Science unit on Astronomy. There will be review when we come back, but if they need more time, looking over notes a bit at a time might be helpful. Usually these units are completed before Christmas but we had a few interruptions, so it is what it is.

Next week:

We are missing a few rolls of Tin foil for Feed the Hungry

Gifts for Steal a gift are due Monday if students want to participate. 15$ value

Thursday is Ugly Christmas sweater/Christmas dress up. It is our last day of school. Time will be spent cleaning, organizing, playing and a movie will be shown in the afternoon. Students will need to bring their own snack and I will provide drinks.

Last day of class fun...December 16th

This is completely optional

  • We will be doing a "white elephant" gift exchange on our last day of school. If students want to participate, we agreed on 15$ to buy a neutral gift. Ideas include art supplies, gift cards, books, games...
  • NO FOOD OR CANDY DUE TO ALLERGIES
  • We will draw #'s to see who gets to choose first and students will end up with a gift at the end. This is optional and just for fun.
  • Students are supposed to discuss with you before agreeing to participate. Gifts will be due Monday Dec 13th, so we are not scrambling at the last minute.

Monday, December 6, 2021

This week in Learning:

Math: how to multiply decimals with a whole number

SOCIAL: learning about the roles that each group of people had, and moving into how decisions were made

SCIENCES: Phases of the moon

ELA: finished debates today and overall they were done. Next up, researching a greek god/goddess and making a poster to show the class. Please note that the Greek gods were not human and that some of their behavior is questionable in humans terms.

FLA: we will look at the structure of a sentence to hopefully help with comprehension. Students should be continually working on their book report.

Religion: the advent magazine is coming along nicely and we are learning more about the Holy Family. Do YOU know who St Joachim is?

SANTE: learning styles and how knowing yours can help you learn better.

Don't forget:
