This week in learning:
MATH: looking at Factors (which 2 numbers make up a product).
FLA: continuing to work on comic books. Raz kids instructions given tomorrow
ELA: continuing Chasing Vermeer chapter 5- 8 and questions completed by the end of the week. Time given in class to complete
SCIENCES: finishing shoe impressions and moving onto tire treads
ES: what makes a democracy, values and principles of democracy
Religion: our liturgy is tomorrow at 10 am. You are most welcome to join us via zoom.

Thank you to parents who booked an interview. It was nice to put a face to names and to see some familiar ones...I was going to say old, but look who's talking!
A priority for students is getting their French song chosen for the music competition. I have made "IT" aware of our issues with You Tube so hopefully that is fixed soon, but to facilitate going forward, songs need to be chosen by MONDAY. I still have 11 missing.
Art Bees are also due Monday.
FLA bande Dessinée, you will at least 2 more classes to work on them.

This week in Learning:
So great to see the students excited about voting today. Results are not allowed to be given until the real polls have closed. Look for info tomorrow. We are among over 1 million students who voted across Canada.
MATH: learning about multiples this week. Homework due Wednesday
FLA: working on a comic book based on a simple child's story. Students will have this week and part of next to complete it. If they work diligently in class, there should be no issues getting it done during class time. Quiz tomorrow on vocabulary about la Bande dessinée.
ELA: continuing to work on novel study Chasing Vermeer. Tomorrow we will discuss our first CTF project, which will be an individual or group effort.
SCIENCE: working on shoe prints and evidence left at the scene involving shoes impressions
SOCIAL: we will begin the introduction and chapter 1 of the book. Finding our what democracy means and what it entails.
RELIGION: we know God through Creation. I am unique fingerprint and image/drawing
ART: finish bees
Music: take some time to find your french song so you can spend more time on the research part of the assignment.
If you have not done so already please go to the conference manager to find a time to chat during interviews this week.

This week in Learning:
MATH; fiche 1 is due tomorrow. We will be having a diagnostic test on what the students have retained from last year. This is not for a mark, just purely to see where I should be putting more focus on this year.
FLA: we are wrapping up skits in French that students are putting together based on a comic book they read in groups.
ELA: letters to future self are due today. We will begin a novel study next. Nightly reading is mandatory to keep up to the class.
SCIENCES: we are looking at observations and being impartial for forensic science
ES: Students are researching the platforms of candidates for the federal Elections. They will vote next Monday just as you are, in Student Vote. An informed decision is a responsible one. links here green conservatives liberals NDP
Religion: we are in charge of the opening Liturgy. We will begin to practice it and the hymns this week.
OTHER:
Leaders’ debates
The letter to parents is still in revision, so please be patinet. For now students are asked to find the leaders of the following political parties as well as the candidates for Calgary Confederation.
Liberals, Conservatives, NDP and Green parties
Students will be voting alongside 5000 other students across Canada and it is our hope that they are well informed citizens.
