I looked though my old BLOG and came across my final one from when I taught these kids in Grade 1 2015-2016. I am reposting it here now...and to be honest, it still applies.

Shed a few tears today as I am sad to see them leave. I hope they keep me in the loop in their future endeavors. God Bless you all and may you ahve a safe a relaxing summer.

A final goodbye...
As I remove all of our decorations and works of art and pack up my things to move forward, I wanted to say a last goodbye...or rather

 Au revoir.
I am exhausted, but fulfilled after my first year back to teaching in many years. Your children have definitely kept me young (despite the gray hairs poking through)! I hope their first year of school has made them life-long learners and has given them the desire to do better, to do great things and to have fun while doing all of that. 
As you now know, I am jumping a few grades to teach grade 6. My first plan was to stay in grade 1 for another year or two, but I was asked to teach grade 6 because of my background in Jr. high. I am looking forward to new adventures, new challenges and maybe a few minutes to sit during the day ( a luxury not afforded to grade 1 teachers...ask your kids about Mme Colette's magic magnet trick)!
I hope we see each other again in a few years. Remind your children to read in French over the holidays and if it's a rainy day, check out French cartoons on You Tube. This will help them not lose what they have worked so hard for this past year.

Tomorrow is our Play Day and it will go in the afternoon. Students are asked to dress for the weather as we will be outside. It may mean rain or sun so be prepared. A change of clothes might also be in order as there is a water station...and I know your children! The theme is Christmas in June.

Thank you to all for attending our semi-virtual Farewell. Despite a few technical glitches, I think it went well. I had several students come and thank me for it and they had fun, which is what is important.

This week we will be completing assignments, and focusing our attention on Indigenous studies. 

Friday, our last day in the afternoon, we will have a junk food movie day. More information to come. 

 

A reminder that our Grade 6 Farewell is Monday June 21st. Students were asked to dress semi-formal/Sunday best. Students will be treated to a pizza lunch, a drink and a cupcake. If they need more food, they can bring more. 

Parents were sent the ZOOM link to their emails to join us virtually at 12h30.

This week in Learning:

As with anything in life, there are due dates. I sent  message to students last Friday stating that if they had anything owing to me in terms of assignments, they had until 9pm Friday June 11th to submit them. 

FLA: Hockey Lecture round 2

ELA: finishing story writing and moving onto drug research. 

MATH: finishing unit 8 with is transformations of figures...slide, flip and rotate. The final project will be designing a skateboard with a specific logo.

SCIENCE: tests will go home this week to be signed. Presentations of forest projects will also take place. No more class exchanges after Friday.

ES: test tomorrow

Relgion: finishing the presentations on other religions

ART: Matisse: scissors are REQUIRED tomorrow

Santé: research to go along with ELA on drugs

Thursday is pizza and our final theme day: Jerseys

Library books are now overdue. Only a very few students have outstanding books. If I mentioned your name today and you think you returned it, you need to double check with Mme Amanda. Take responsibility.

 

Students received their Math tests back today and also their ELA novel Study (rubric to be signed). I would like both signed and returned, please and thank you.

June brings with it a mix of emotions and in the classroom, sometimes that translates to summer is here. I would like to be clear...

school ends on June 25th at 3:17 pm and that students should be putting in as much effort now as ever in their work. Good habits continue to last a lifetime. I appreciate your support in this and if need be, a chat with your children may be in order.

Students are reminded to have a change of shoes for indoors and outdoors, especially since the weather this week will be wet and muddy. An extra mask is also needed. Lunch will most likely be indoors.

LIBRARY books need to be returned by the 9th so that Mme Amanda can do inventory.

FLA: We will finish with verb tenses this week and finish all quizzes. Imparfait and passé composé this Friday.

ELA: we are writing a Story based on a prompt. Final teaching of tips and tricks will be this week.

MATH: questionnaires and probability test this Wednesday. One more unit to go on transformations.

Sciences: test on trees next Monday. This week we work on a project about forests and how to manage them.

Religion: we will finish Family life this week and then finish presenting other religions projects.
